My hand-colored kitten in a stroller
For this version I combined Caran d’Ache Luminance and Derwent Lightfast pencils. Look at the golden fur, pink fabric and turquoise bow for ideas for your own interpretation. The pencil and paper texture is part of the finish.

02 / Another combination to try
A Creative palette for a charming stroller
The Atlas “Antique tea set” palette brings together light shades, pink, ochre and two cool accents. Although its name suggests a tea table, it also fits this sweet scene: ochre for the kitten and basket, pink for the fabric and a blue-green touch on the bow.

Apply pink and ochre with light pressure. Save deeper blue and green for small details; combine them in soft layers for a blue-green effect.
Find this palette under “Creativas” → “Objetos cotidianos con encanto” (Creative → Charming everyday objects).
This is an alternative suggestion: the pencils from my example are listed above. On-screen colors are only a guide; make a swatch on your paper before starting.
03 / Enjoy every detail
How to color the kitten and stroller step by step
Start with light layers and save firmer pressure until the end. Place a clean sheet beneath your hand and turn the page when working on the wheels to follow their curves more easily.
Choose where to preserve light
Before starting, keep the muzzle, chest and eye highlights light. Apply a soft first layer to the fur and fabric without covering all the white areas.
Separate the shapes
Deepen the shadows beneath the canopy, beside the paws and at the bottom of the basket. Keep the fabric edge light so the kitten does not blend into the stroller.
Finish with the details
Sharpen your pencil for the flowers, bow knot and wheel spokes. Add a light shadow beneath the stroller to make it look grounded.
Four details to bring your version to life
THE FUR
Small strokes, soft fur
Work from the forehead toward the cheeks, following the tufts. Shorten the strokes on the paws and leave some light gaps. Build the color gradually for the stripes instead of drawing hard lines.
THE CANOPY
A shadow around the little face
Keep the top lighter and darken the interior behind the kitten. On the ruffles, add shadow only where one curve sits beneath another. The light edge separates fabric from fur.
THE BASKET
Wicker with light between the strips
Follow the horizontal lines with ochre and leave small light spaces. Deepen the area beneath the fabric and the basket’s bottom. Avoid darkening every line equally: some can stay soft.
THE BOW AND WHEELS
Repeat a color to connect the scene
Carry a little blue-green from the bow onto the stroller frame. Keep the spokes light and use a sharp tip beside the wheel rim. Repeat a touch of pink in the wheel centers if you like.
How can I keep the fur from looking like a smooth surface?
Use short strokes following the tufts and vary their length slightly. Leave paper gaps between some strokes and deepen only the contact shadows. There is no need to fill everything equally.
How can I create soft pink fabric?
Start with almost no pressure and add layers only in the folds. Try a very light base before the pink. Keep a separate swatch: if you like the shade, use it as a reference while coloring the canopy.
Do I have to use Luminance and Lightfast together?
I used both brands in my example, but you can make your version with a single set. Find a warm shade for the fur, a pink and a blue-green for the decorations. The color combination matters more than copying every material.

Download the kitten in a stroller to print
Save the black-and-white page and open the file before printing. Choose A4 portrait and “Fit to page”. Check the preview to ensure the bow, canopy and all the wheels fit.
For colored pencils, try matte paper with some texture. If you use thick paper, check that your printer supports it before loading it.
