Three things to look for

Find a drawing you want to return to

As you browse the samples, think about how you like to spend time with your materials. These details may help you decide.

The size of the details

Large areas give you room for blends and gradients. Small decorations invite you to work slowly, one at a time. Notice which kind of work appeals to you.

What makes you want to color

It might be skin, fabric or a corner of the landscape. If you are already imagining which pencil to use, that is a good sign. The whole collection does not need to be in a familiar style.

How much time you want to spend

For a short session, find a part you can enjoy on its own. If you like returning to the same drawing over several days, choose a scene with corners you want to discover gradually.
