From drawing to paper
Download the page and get it ready to print
- Save the full drawing of the kitten beside the streetlamp as a JPG (2480 × 3508 pixels), or choose an A4 or US Letter PDF.
- For the JPG, choose portrait orientation and fit the complete image within the printable area. For a PDF, use the version that matches your paper and print at actual size.
- Keep the drawing centered and proportional, without cropping or stretching it. Check that the top of the streetlamp, the kitten’s paws and the signature remain visible in the print preview.
For colored pencils, try matte paper with a little tooth and start with light layers. Choose a paper weight your printer supports. For markers, test a small area for bleeding or smearing and place a spare sheet underneath. The drawing includes light gray shading; keep it visible by adding gentle layers of color.

Palettes for the kitten beside the streetlamp
Choose your favorite combination and adapt the shades to your pencils. You do not need exactly the same colors.

- Coral
- Sand
Cream fur, denim overalls and coral stripes. Use sand for the paving stones.

Yellow lights up the lantern; pair midnight blue overalls with pearl gray fur and mauve stripes.
A springtime street
- Sage green
- Soft pink
- Honey
- Stone
Try sage overalls, a pink shirt and honey-colored fur. Keep the streetlamp and ground in stone shades.
If you are missing a shade, find a similar one in the colored-pencil Atlas or explore other palettes for combining your pencils.
Color at your own pace
Ideas for the drawing’s details
Soft fur
Use short strokes in the direction of the fur. Cream or light gray fur lets the clothes stand out; add a very faint pink inside the ears.
Overalls and shirt
For denim overalls, use a light blue base and darker blue beneath the straps. Alternate white and colored stripes on the shirt, varying their intensity.
The streetlamp’s light
Color the glass pale yellow for a nighttime scene. Add a light halo around it, keeping the center lighter than the edges. For daylight, a very soft blue on the glass is enough.
Paving stones and shadows
Color the ground warm gray or sand and darken the joints slightly. Keep the shadow beneath the feet short and soft so it does not compete with the kitten’s face.
Invent its street
Add a small moon or stars if you light the lantern. For a daytime stroll, try a flowerpot in one corner. One background detail is enough to suggest where the kitten is.
Before you begin
How can I make the streetlamp look lit?
Use very light yellow on the glass and extend it slightly around the lantern. Darken the post a little, preserving a light strip on the side facing the light.
Can I color the kitten like my own cat?
Of course. Use your cat’s fur color and add small patches. Start with the light areas and gradually build the dark ones to preserve the face’s expression.
