From drawing to paper
Download the page and prepare it for printing
- Save the full baby tiger with umbrella drawing.
- Open the saved image and choose A4 paper in portrait orientation.
- Select “Fit to page” and check the preview. Make sure the entire umbrella and all the puddles fit on the sheet.
With colored pencils, start with light layers so you can add shadows later. If you prefer markers, place another sheet underneath to protect your table. You can leave the existing shading as it is and color the light areas.
Three ways to begin
Palettes for the baby tiger with umbrella
Choose your favorite combination and adapt the shades to your pencils. You do not need these exact colors.
Rain and sunshine
- Orange
- Yellow
- Sky blue
- Cream
Orange fur, a yellow raincoat and a sky-blue umbrella. Save cream for the muzzle and paws.
Candy umbrella
- Pink
- Mint
- Peach
- Lavender
Alternate pink and lavender on the umbrella, with mint for the coat and peach for the fur.
Rainy-day adventure
- Brick red
- Teal
- Honey
- Cloud gray
Combine a brick-red coat with a teal umbrella and honey-colored fur. Use cloud gray only for shadows.
If you are missing a shade, look for a similar one in the Colored Pencil Atlas (in Spanish) or explore more palettes for combining your pencils (in Spanish).

Ideas for the details
Stripes and fur
Apply light orange around the existing dark stripes and leave cream on the muzzle and paws. Deepen the orange beneath the hood to give the face a little volume.
Hooded raincoat
Yellow pairs well with an orange tiger, but you could also try aqua or red. Add shadows in the sleeve folds and beneath the pockets.
An umbrella in sections
Alternate two colors between the panels or use one at different intensities. Work gently near the ribs and keep some areas light to suggest wet fabric.
Raindrops and puddles
You do not need to fill every drop with blue. A touch of sky blue along one edge and a soft line inside the puddles can suggest clear water.
The umbrella’s reflection
Choose one puddle and add a small stroke in the umbrella’s color. It does not need to be an exact reflection: this detail connects the water with the rest of the scene.
Before you start
Is this suitable for beginners?
The coat and umbrella have fairly large spaces. Start with those and leave the drops, buttons and stripes until last. You do not need a background to finish the page.
How do I keep the umbrella and coat distinct?
Choose a light shade for one and a stronger shade for the other. For example, a sky-blue umbrella with a yellow coat, or a soft pink umbrella with a darker green raincoat.
