Give the uniform personality

The plaid skirt

Color the whole skirt in a light shade first. Then trace some lines in a darker color, following the plaid pattern. This keeps the pattern visible without hiding the folds.

The blouse and bow

Leave the blouse white and add a soft gray shadow beneath the collar and sleeves. Make the bow more intense so it stands out beside the face.

The eyes and sneakers

Choose an eye color and preserve the highlights. Repeat one of the uniform shades on the sneakers to bring everything together.

Questions about the uniform and its colors

How do I color the skirt’s plaid pattern?

Start with a light background color and add the darker lines afterward. Follow the pattern already in the drawing and preserve some light areas in the folds.

Can I leave the blouse white?

Yes. Just add a soft shadow beneath the collar and sleeves. Use a stronger color for the bow to make it stand out.
