A dress for your color imagination

Kawaii doll in a ball gown coloring page

This kawaii doll wears a ball gown with a full skirt, flowers at the waist, and a floral hair accessory. Print her for free and experiment with the dress, petals, and little border details. Do you imagine her in pink, blue, or several shades?

I suggest choosing the skirt color first and repeating it in one of the hair flowers. This brings the outfit together without making every decoration the same color.

The skirt has room for soft shading practice; use a fine pencil point on the flowers.

Three ideas to start

What color will your ball gown be?

Choose your favorite combination or change one shade to make it your own. You do not need an enormous pencil set.

Pink and cream

Give the skirt a soft pink base and leave the flowers cream. Use darker pink in the folds and a subtle green on the leaves.

Party blue

Combine a light blue dress with lavender flowers. Reserve dark blue for where the folds meet, without covering the whole skirt.

Green and peach

Try soft green fabric and peach petals. A little brown in the hair adds contrast without competing with the flowers.

To choose shades from your own set, explore the Colored Pencil Atlas for fabric and flower combinations (in Spanish).

Color one part at a time

Give the skirt depth and care for the decorations

Start with light pressure. You can always add more color, but it is harder to lighten an area that has become too dark.

Dress folds

Follow the skirt’s lines with a narrow shadow. Blend it out to one side and leave the center of each fold light to give the fabric depth.

Flowers and leaves

Color one petal at a time, working outward from its base. Darken the area behind an overlapping petal and avoid pressing too hard along the outline.

Hair, face, and eyes

Follow each lock as you color the hair. Give the face a light layer and preserve the white eye highlights to maintain her gentle expression.

To practice this layering technique, follow the guide to coloring with pencils and creating soft shadows.

Print your doll and prepare a coloring session

Save the page, choose portrait orientation, and check in print preview that the whole dress fits. Colored pencils reach the small flowers easily; test markers on another sheet first and protect the table.
