Three ideas for a soft-looking hood
Choose a light color for the hood and a different one for the hair. Test them together before coloring the face: if they look too similar, lighten one to separate the shapes.
Cream and dusty pink
- Cream
- Dusty pink
- Honey
- Warm gray
Color the hood cream and the inner ears pink. Try honey tones for the hair, with warm gray at the base of the ears and beneath the sleeves.
Lavender and cloud blue
- Lavender
- Cloud blue
- Warm white
- Grayish violet
Combine a lavender hood with light blue clothes. Leave the bunny almost white and use grayish violet in a few shadows to make it stand out from the paper.
Mint and peach
- Mint
- Peach
- Ivory
- Soft chestnut
Try mint on the hood and peach inside the ears. Repeat a little peach on the bunny, keep the clothes ivory, and choose soft chestnut for the hair.
You can find soft shades in the Pencil Atlas (in Spanish) and choose the closest matches among your own pencils.
Give the hood a fluffy look
The large light areas give you room to work at your own pace. You do not need to draw fur everywhere: soft shadows help suggest the fabric’s shape.
Start around the hood’s edge
Apply a light layer and deepen it where the fabric meets the hair. Keep the top light, as though it catches more light.
Ears with light centers
Color the inside of each ear with light pressure. Add a little more intensity near the base and leave a pale area toward the tip.
Separate the hands and sleeves
Choose distinct shades for the skin and clothes. A soft shadow at the cuff is enough to show where the sleeve ends and the hand begins.
A matching companion
Leave the bunny white and shade just inside its outline with pale gray. For a colored version, repeat one of the hood’s shades to link the two characters.
Add a personal touch
Invent a cozy corner for the two friends
Small stars already decorate the scene. Add a pale moon, a softly colored floor, or a rug beneath the doll and bunny. Choose just one idea so the ears and expression remain the focus.
If you would like to create your own character, you can draw an anime girl step by step.
From the drawing to your coloring table
Download the drawing and open it before printing. Use portrait orientation and check that the ear tips and bunny are complete. If an edge is cropped, choose “fit to page.”
Questions about the hood and bunny
How can I keep the hood white without making it look unfinished?
Preserve the white paper and add very soft shadows along the edge around the hair, at the base of the ears, and in the folds. Color the inner ears for a little contrast.
Which part can I color first?
Start with the ears and hood, which have large areas. Continue with the clothes, then finish with the hair, cuffs, and little rabbit.
