How to download and print this page
The wings offer broad areas, while the neck and tail have many scales. Use that difference to alternate soft layers with more precise strokes. The eye is clearly visible, so a little contrast there is enough to give the character personality.
- Click Download the young anime-style dragon JPG and save the original file to your device. If your browser opens the image, use its save-image option.
- Open the saved JPG and choose A4 paper in landscape orientation. Select “Fit to page” and check that the whole drawing stays within the margins.
- Print in black and white. For sharper lines, try a slightly smaller size within the sheet instead of enlarging the image.
The file measures 1200 × 904 pixels. The button downloads the original JPG. There is no need to take a screenshot or print the website menus.

Three color ideas for this drawing
Follow one of these combinations or mix the parts you like from each. Test the shades on a separate sheet before applying them to the drawing.
Ice dragon
Combine light blue, turquoise and blue-gray. Keep the wing membranes almost white and reserve dark blue for the joints and shadows.
Forest dragon
Color the body olive green and the tummy cream. Use dark green on a few scales and a touch of gold on the crest.
Fire dragon
Try terracotta and orange on the body, with soft yellow on the wings. Subtle burgundy beneath the neck adds depth without hiding the lines.
Coloring tips
Separate the scales and membranes
Start with the broad wing surfaces. Work outward from the joints and reduce pressure as you approach the edges.
Treat the scales in groups: a light base with a few darker scales usually works better than alternating many colors without a pattern.
Deepen the shadows beneath the neck, between the feet and under the tail. Finish with the claws and preserve a highlight in the eye.
To practice layers and shadows before starting, follow the tips in Learn to color.

Before you start coloring
Do I need to color each scale separately?
No. Apply a shared base color to the body and choose just a few scales to darken. The drawing already provides lines and shading that help define the texture.
Can I download the drawing on my phone?
Yes. Tap the download button and save the JPG. If it opens on another screen, press and hold the image and choose save or download; the option’s name depends on your browser. Then send it to your printer.
