Turquoise, lilac and a touch of gold

The hat takes up almost as much space as the character. In this interpretation, turquoise draws the attention, while golden eyes create a warm focal point on the lilac face. The shoes repeat the hat color and bring the whole palette together.

Notice the shadow beneath the brim

The darker strip above the eyes helps separate the face from the hat. Light areas on the cheeks preserve a soft expression: there is no need to darken all the skin to create depth.

Ideas for your own version

Shape the hat while preserving the light

Try these exercises with the colors you have. They are practice suggestions, not a reconstruction of soirolaba_scrap’s process.

  1. 1

    Preserve a light area

Start with light pressure and keep the bulging part of the hat lighter. Use small overlapping movements to avoid harsh bands.

  2. 2

    Deepen the folds

Add a darker shade around the curved tip and beneath the brim. Extend it toward the light color with soft layers instead of drawing a thick border.

  3. 3

    Balance the face

Test the blue-and-pink blend on a scrap before applying it to the skin. Keep the first layer light and preserve the white eye reflections.

Does the lilac skin look too dark?

Reduce pressure and leave that area for a while. Continue with the ears or boots, then compare the whole drawing before adding another layer to the face.

Gold that stands out

Work the turquoise around the small hat decorations without covering them. A shadow along just one side gives them more volume than outlining the whole piece in black.

The Atlas witch-outfit palette also suits this goblin. Use purple on the hat and repeat it on the boots; let the golden decorations become small focal points. This alternative is separate from the materials used in the example.
