How to coordinate the hat, scarf, and coat
Repeating a color on separate pieces brings the outfit together, even when each has its own details.
Blue winter
Use light blue on the coat, darker blue on the trim, and cream on the hat. A pink touch on the cheeks and pompom adds warmth.
A snowy afternoon
Try lavender on the scarf and soft gray on the boots. Keep the furry areas of the hat and cuffs light so they look fluffy.
Cheerful clothes
Combine a coral coat with an aqua scarf. Repeat coral in a small decoration and choose a quieter shade for the boots.

Details matter
A simple way to color texture
Instead of covering everything in the same shade, color each material according to how it would feel to touch.
Hat and pompom
Apply a light layer to the fabric and deepen the shadow beneath the brim. Leave small white areas in the pompom to keep its fluffy look.
Scarf around the face
Darken the lower fold near the neck slightly. Keep the section crossing in front of the mouth lighter to help define it.
Coat and boots
Color the trim before the center of the coat. Add shadow beneath each boot shaft and leave a light band across the toe.
