How to download and print this dog in motion

The square page shows the whole dog. The paw reaching toward you reveals its pads, while the tail and ears strengthen the sense of movement. Color just the dog, or add a soft shadow afterwards to separate it from the white background.

  1. Click Download the Plummer Terrier JPG and save the file to your device. If your browser opens the image, use its save-image option.
  2. Open the JPG, choose A4 paper, and select “fit to page.” Preserve the drawing’s square proportions and leave white margins, without stretching it to fill the sheet.
  3. Check print preview: the ears, paws, and signature should all fit within the paper. Print in black and white to preserve the original drawing.

The JPG measures 1200 × 1200 pixels. Avoid excessive enlargement to keep the lines sharp; print it smaller on A4 paper if needed. The button saves the original without website menus.

A palette to get started

Three combinations for fur and collar

You do not need a different color for every lock. Choose a body base, a slightly darker shadow, and a collar accent; the printed strokes already add texture.

Cinnamon, cream, and green

Give the body a cinnamon base, preserving cream on the muzzle and chest. Use darker brown beneath the neck and soft green on the collar to separate it from the fur.

Light fur and a red collar

Leave much of the paper white and add beige or warm gray to the shaded areas. Red on the collar can be the only strong color, keeping attention on the face.

Chocolate brown and blue

Use medium brown on broad areas and chocolate in the body folds. Keep the muzzle light and try a blue collar for simple contrast.

Coloring tips

Color the fur while preserving the running pose

Start with the body and leave the face until you have chosen the palette. Printed strokes show the fur’s direction and which areas sit behind others.

1

Apply the first layer lightly, following the back’s curve and chest strokes. Deepen beneath the collar and behind the front leg to separate the planes.

2

Use shorter strokes on the muzzle and ears. Preserve the small white eye and nose reflections to keep the dog’s expression alert.

3

Use dark gray or brown on the visible paw pads and soft pink on the tongue. Keep any ground shadow light so the dog still feels in motion.

Colored pencils can tint the gray shading without hiding it. Work with light shades first and save the darkest ones for the nose, mouth, and a few locks. The learn-to-color guide offers more help with layers and shadows.

Before you start coloring

Is the Plummer Terrier download free?

Yes. The button saves the 1200 × 1200-pixel JPG. Print it for coloring in accordance with the license conditions linked at the end of this guide.

Can I color it as a beginner?

Yes. Start with two fur shades and one collar color. There is no need to retrace every hair: a soft base over broad areas and a few shadows give the dog depth.

Do I have to color the background?

No. A white background lets the paws and tail stand out. If you would like to add something, try a small gray shadow beneath the dog or a few grass strokes without filling the sheet.
