A bright uniform and golden eyes

CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 · Terms for the drawings and colored examples
In soirolaba_scrap’s hand-colored version, the warm face and hair contrast with the bluish shadows on the hat and jacket. The pink snout echoes the inside of the ears, while the golden eyes draw attention to the face.
White fabric can have depth too
Large light areas remain on the hat, with shadows defining its folds. On the jacket, the edges of the sleeves and folded arms make the pose clear. The warm buttons add small accents without distracting from the face.

Ideas for your own version
Practice whites, curves and tiny highlights
These suggestions are for your own interpretation; they are not techniques confirmed by soirolaba_scrap.
- 1
Give the white hat some shape
Keep the center of each fold light and add a soft shadow beside the lines of the hat. A blue-gray pencil used with light pressure can separate the shapes while leaving plenty of white visible.
- 2
Keep the snout and ears soft
Start with a light pink layer. Deepen the nostrils, the underside of the snout and the inside of the ears, softening the edges toward the lighter parts of the face.
- 3
Bright eyes and clearly folded arms
Preserve the white reflections in the eyes and deepen the upper edge of each iris. On the jacket, place shadows just beneath the sleeves and arms to make the pose easy to read.
Is the uniform looking too gray?
Keep the shadows close to the folds and leave the broad areas light. Compare the hat with the darker outline before adding more pencil.
A little curl with depth
On the tail, follow its curve and shade the lower edge. A narrow highlight will help it stand out from the trousers.
An alternative suggestion from the Atlas
Painted porcelain: light tones with colorful details
Caran d’Ache Luminance
The Atlas creative palette “Painted porcelain”, using Caran d’Ache Luminance, offers another direction for the uniform. Try Buff titanium and Silver Grey on the light areas, Beryl Green or Prussian Blue on buttons and trim, and Terracotta for small warm accents. This is an alternative color suggestion, separate from the materials used in the example.
