Artistic interpretation
The Luminance range brings together intense, luminous colors with a particularly useful selection of earths, grays, skin tones, blues, greens and muted shades. Its creamy, opaque core makes soft blends, layering and gradients easier, while its range of values lets you build highlights, midtones and deep shadows. The chart helps you recognize temperatures, color relationships and possible transitions before starting an artwork. Digital swatches are approximate and can vary with paper, pressure, layers, lighting and screen.
Practical application
Use this chart to identify each reference, record your pencils in My Pencils and prepare a palette before starting. To check a combination, test light layers on the same paper as the artwork and gradually increase pressure. Luminance works particularly well for blends, gradients, portraits, fur, skin and areas requiring even coverage. Before the final finish, also test layering two or three shades, and save the blender for unifying or intensifying the last layers.
