A Christmas card to color

Teddy Bear Hugging a Christmas Tree Coloring Page

This little bear almost hides the tree in its hug. A few branches and the star peek out. Pick two greens and a golden yellow and you have the beginnings of a Christmas card.

Woodland greens for the tree

Try the three greens side by side. Use the lightest on the tips and save the deepest green for the branches tucked behind the bear.

From the first layer to the finishing touches

Where the bear’s paw meets the branches

  1. Save the tree’s highlights

Give the branches a light green base and keep the tips pale.

  2. Follow the hug

Deepen the green directly under the paw and fade it out along the branch.

  3. Choose the bear’s coat

Try a light ochre on one ear before using it across the body.

Four details to take your time with

Fur

Use short strokes on the cheek and longer ones on the tummy.

Star

Color one point yellow and leave a sliver of white along its edge.

Baubles

Repeat one color on two small ornaments so they stand out among the branches.

Ground

A little gray where the trunk meets the ground gives the tree some weight.

What if I want a polar bear?

Leave the coat white and add just a little blue-gray under the chin and around the paw.
